Hey Danny, I run the MM also. Sweet alternator. The three main components that typically fail are completly replaceable. The two brushes are spring loaded and soldered in and the best part about the brushes are that they are common off the shelf type. The resistor is also changeable. It is a simple yet manageable item.

Smile Voltage Regulator Resolution

Thanks for all the helpful information on this alternator. After LRD2&ME's question on details I ran a few more tests on the alternator and cleaned and tightened the battery and alternator connections at the same time. The cleanup fixed the issue - no more voltage fluctuation on the alternator output.

It's good to know that the brushes and regulator components are replaceable with off-the-shelf items. 195k miles sounds like a good time to take care of this.
