A weekend success with the rover!
As probably all of you guys know, not all weekends are a maintenance success with the Rovers. However, this past weekend was. Spent about 6 hours Saturday inspecting, cleaning, tightening, etc. Couple of thoughts and notes to self...
1. If you are idling rough, change spark plugs. I used Bosch Super Platinum ($2.99 ea @ Pep Boys).
2. Check exhaust manifold bolts often, turning by hand not good.
3. Tighten valve cover bolts (found 8mm 12pt deep 'skinny' well at Lowes for $3.27) They were loose by any standard.
4. Clean the hoses and plastic 'tee' fitting coming from the throttle body to the PVC filter on the left valve cover. The 'tee' fitting was 100% clogged, yes, 100%. Clean throttle body.
5. Get your tools organized, mm and imperial sockets tossed knee deep in a tool box leads to frustration...
Simply amazing what some new plugs and a little preventive maintenance can do. No lights on whatsoever!!! Rover went from "is my head gasket about to go to running like a top" with less than $80 of maintenance...
Next weekend I plan on attacking the misc. electrical issues going on with interior lights... Where to start?

I have downloaded, printed, (bunch of pages) and have it in a binder, as well as laptop and flash drive.
Yeah, I bought the whole upper gasket set thinking I had a bad valley pan gasket and possible head gasket leak before I found one of those sockets and tightened my valvecover bolts.
New wires and plugs and MAF Cleaner made a hell of a difference.

Yeap, I have that problem along with 'sometimes' they will come on manually and sometimes they will not, along with the 'shifter' lights, light behind the AC controls, back dome light, side parking / running lights are not currently working. Headlights, light at speed / tach works and turn signals with brakes / running, etc. are currently working....
Fuses are all good, I checked every fuse I could find, engine bay and drivers side, none were 'cracked'. I would hate for that to be the case, that would be to easy to repair
