Default see not so bad

Yea..i only looked at the rave a couple times...as for the dirty parts..you can take them to the shop that does your heads and have them hot tanked...thats what im doing. i would also pull your oil pan by the looks of your rocker covers...might as well do it right...as for the bolt....get a screw extracter and some pb blaster.....my strater bolts where siezed on....

removed one and a half heads before I cracked my socket. I heard it would happen just wanted to see it.

On another note what is. Bostik 1775 impact adhesive

Well its the stuff you use for the rocker covers, but what could I use in place of this.

Well I got the other head off.

The gasket kit comes in tomorrow and all I have left to do is clean the heads, and drop the oil pan. Then its reassemble time.

So far its been quite easy. But its always easier to remove stuff.

Im probably a good 8-10 hours into it. Not going after it too hard. Just taking my time and cleaning everything really well.

This wasn't so hard.

I have always found it easier to reassemble. Mostly because I already know where everything goes and it rarely fights you going back together. Good progress!

Well. I got almost everything cleaned up. Only thing left is the heads and the block. The solid carbon came off of everything just by using gasoline. And the pushrods look new agian.

Cool thing is you can still see the factory hone crosshatching in the pistons. Not sure if thats normal but for 100,000 miles thats pretty cool.

hmm looking to see where I can get some valve seals quick.

Ah I believe my kit already comes with them.

A few before and after pictures.

Anyone know why some valves are white and others are dark? I know I may have been burning oil, but not sure if they should be dark or white.

I spent 15 hours on it today.

I guess Im cleaning the **** out of everything.

And I dropped the oil sump cleaned that

Replaced every valve seal [this part took the longest, but I got pretty quick at the end.

I got electrocuted, took me a while to figure out how it happened.

Breathed in enough gas and purple power to kill myself.

Removed one exhaust manifold to fix stripped bolt.

Put the fuel rail on the intake and put the 2nd from the top peice on the 3rd part of the intake. Installed new thermostat.

Cleaned every bit of crap off of every valve. Cleaned heads and engine block. [Man these heads really are SUPER soft]

TOMORROWS LIST!!

Repaint Valve Covers. [Forgot paint doesn't mix with gas]

Reinstall exhaust manifold

being putting engine back together and hope it all works.

Looking good. If I ever have to (Or when) do this, your thread will be an inspiration to just do it.
