I'd try it for shats and gaggles but I don't know if a 95 will work with 98 andwitgout the alarm ecu it won't start.

There was a new member that just posted about damaged wiring for the camshaft position sensor(?) or some such sensor. anyway, if it is erratic, I would want to do a close visual for a wiring issue possibly.

This is just a shot in the dark, but what about your injectors?

Have you removed and opened up your ECU to make sure its not full of water?

And yeah, a '95 ECU will not work in a '98.
The '95 has a distributor, your '98 does not.

Thanks again for the input guys. I'll look at the wiring more closely - there's a good possibility somethings frayed somewhere. When I bought the truck it had sat for a while getting eaten by mice. They seemed to favor the hoodliner and vacuum lines, but I'll look again. I have NOT removed the ECU case and looked for water. Thanks! Forgot about that... and as for the injectors, they were removed/cleaned/tested but I suppose there could be something wrong there also.

Oh - the ECU is from a 98 (so he said?). I didn't realize there were 5spd D1's in 98, but I didn't really research either. I'll check for water first.
