Default What oil to reduce carbon buildup.

Tearing apart my engine I was disgusted by the amount of baked on crap. Although I never saw my engine overheat, I know it runs pretty hot.

So what would be the best solution with oil to prevent this?

Dino oil changed every 3k
Syth oil changed every 5k?

I think the stuff im seeing had to do with oil and heat making it form the way it did. The rest of the softer [sludge] wasn't too bad, but the hard stuff was everywhere.

I know sythetic oil holds its property in higher heat better than dino oil. What do yall think? Im about to change my oil.

I have an engine that I used Mobil 1 on and it was very clean inside ...at least under the valve cover. I never had to tear it apart.

I was using Mobil 1 but I switched back to diesel oil.
From the research I have done unless you use a true full synthetic oil, like RedLine, Royal Purple or Amsoil you are no better off than if you used a heavy duty oil.
Diesel oil is highly detergent to keep the insides of dirty overworked diesel engines clean.
I use Shell Rotella, I am currently using their HD-30 mono weight oil and my truck LOVES it.
Come winter I will switch to their 5w-40.
I use NAPA, Purolator and WIX oil filters and change the oil every 5,000 miles.
A gallon of Rotella is $12, you need 2, then $5 for the oil filter.
A hell of alot cheaper than Mobil 1 and does just a good of a job.

Amsoil is the best synthetic oil on the market. PM me if you want some more info. I run it in all my vehicles and recently tore down my engine to the valley pan gasket and everything was exceptionally clean. Conventional oils and even Mobil 1 don't compare.
