what size lug wrench for covered nuts?
Unfortunately I didn't get an OEM lug wrench with the D1, and I don't want to remove all the covers and use a 26mm, but what size socket do you use for the covered lug nuts?
1-1/16" and 27mm will start but don't go on far enough, and 28mm and 1-1/8" are too sloppy. What the heck do you guys use?

The correct size is 27mm. If you don't want to remove the covers, best be is to replace all of the lug nuts. They aren't cheap.
There are some RRC style that don't have covers to worry about.

the caps are probly deformed from the wrong socket being used so you need to beat on the 1 1/16 or 27mm remove lug nut and beat it out of the socket, once you have them off if you press off the tin caps a d2 lug wrench fits that's what I did
I used a 28mm socket and a 6 foot cheater bar on my 1/2" breaker bar to break them loose. After wire brushing and anti-seize they went back on easily. I guess I'll just carry the 28mm and breaker bar plus a 26mm for the spare and the one wheel with all capless nuts.
BTW, why does the owner's manual say not to use the spare tire nuts on the road wheels? I think I may have one spare nut; are they covered with a little bump in the center? I have it on one road wheel and painted some capless nuts for the spare.
I know may wheel lug nuts work on steelies
Lug nuts for steelies do not work on mags
Different taper
The 26mm is probly d2 size, like I said lose the caps and get a d2 lug wrench, I stand on it to break em loose had nothing to do with the neversieze
