Default What is this sound ( Did I break it?)

welp used the truck to pull out some bushes. Yanked on a couple of them. Now this sound.... Hope its just a filter the popped off but it sounds like its coming from top of bell housing... ??? what did I F up?

Oh funny thing is that it now has more pep like maybe it was a clogged filter and now shifts better? does that make sense?

Well, let’s hope it’s something external like a loose connection or sensor but… sounds like it’s coming from inside the transmission or something. I’d take the pan off and see if your filter is dangling around in there.

Thanks will do soonish. sometime lol I know it needs a filter change for sure. When I changed the trans fluid it was blacker than my oil.

I'll bite.... Sounds a bit like my old vacuum leak. Possible exhaust leak. That might explain the performance difference. One thing I know for sure, black trans fluid is no bueno

Pull the inspection plate & look at the flexplate. You really don't wanna drive it until it lets go. First you'll be stranded, second it could damage the torque converter or transmission seal, or worse case the pump. Inspect it, look for cracks or broken bits, and replace. 25.00 part but the labor isn't fun aka TC/transmission removal enough to gain access to the flexplate.

I looked the other day didnt notice anything while it was running and off. Ill look again. May just go ahead and try to tackle it before winter. Transmissions are the one thing ive never delt with. ???

Hello. New member here. I just bought a '04 D2, making the same sound, but also dumping transmission fluid out near the bell housing. The flexplate is my guess also, allowing the converter to wobble and damage the front pump seal on the tranny.
Have you gotten into yours to verify?
Thanks!
PS. I bought it at a very good price, with the noise, which helped drop the price.

Ryan
