Wheel Hub

If I remeber right, they(rave) says to use the dial gauge and bracket to measure drive shaft end play when all re-assembled.
Unless you end up replacing the stub axle, thrust washer for the stub axle, the cv joint or drive flange, you will be fine. You will find when you disassemble the hub, one of the first things to come off is a c-clip or snap ring on the end of the axle shaft with one or more "washers" behind it. Them washers are actually shims, setting the shaft end play. So make sure all and the same shims go back on each side and you will be O.K.

Get a set of snap ring pliers also, they make removal of the snap ring much easier.
You may want to pick up one of those kits for repacking the bearings, or you can do like I did and use some good stretch wrap to aid in packing grease in the bearings. If you have never packed bearings, you will have lots of fun. Be prepared to have bearing grease all over your hands, tools, clothes ........

The gauge is to measure the pre-load on the swivel *****, a hanging fish scale works too.
Attach the hook end of the scale to the swivel ball, pull on the scale, adjust the swivel.
You want the swivel to be around 15lbs, so YOU need to apply 15lbs on the scale before the swivel moves. (attach scale, pull on scale, watch gauge, more than 15lbs, loosen, less then, tighten, pull again, adjust until set to 14-15lbs, do this for each side)

It is yours, risk it if you dare. It will just cost more to fix when it does crap out on you.
If you live in a small town it may be fine, but if that is the case, just walk.
It it is a big town, use public transportation.
Since We cannot see how bad it is, and have no idea where you live, how could any of us possibly give you a reliable answer?
For example Atlanta Ga has lots of interstates with 65 mph speed limits, but is still in town, same as Jacksonvill florida, the largest town (land area) in the US. Mayberry is only a few blocks long with a low speed limit.
