Wheel lug nuts....whats the poop?
I did a couple searches which yielded no results....what's the poop on wheel lug nuts? The stock/OE "crown/capped" nuts are ricockulously expensive for some reason. I thought I recalled reading somewhere that one should not use the stock nuts with steel wheels and one should use proper steel lug nuts. Can the the steel nuts be used with the stock alloy wheels? On all my cars I use alloy wheels (stock or aftermarket) and generally switch from bolts to studs. I've used both aluminum (teh suck) nuts but generally use steel.
Just trying to understand this on the rover side. Is there a seat difference on say a NATO steel wheel vs stock alloy such that different nuts are required?
Point of all this is I am switching from a set of NATO steel wheels back to stock alloys and I only have the nuts that came with the NATO's. I was going to just buy stock nuts but as indicated above they are cost prohibitive unless there's a reason to use them.
Thanks.

You cannot use steel wheel lug nuts on the alloys. The correct nuts ar expensive, about $5 each here: RovahFarm for all your new Land Rover Parts and Accessories
You might try used from one of the usuals.

Once you see the alloys you will understand.
You need to buy used, look for a set of Range Rover Classic lug nuts, they are solid steel and not capped like the DI lug nuts.
Thats the route I went, they were tarnished and I had to clean them up, but they cleaned up nice and work great.

Check e-bay too.

I currently have NATO's but will sell those and switch back to stock alloys. I prefer the alloys and I only need one set of wheels/tires....I think the only vehicle I own that has one set, heh.
Spike...thanks for the heads up on the RRC lugs, that's the way I'll go, I don't care for that capped style.
Cheers.
