Default Wheel Speed Sensor question

Hi All-

97 Discovery with "Anti Lock Brakes" light on. I believe this is most likely a wheel speed sensor that's backed out enough to trigger the light. Multiple posts I;ve read said to just knock the sensors back down. They all seem to be about the same as far as how far down they are. So I have a few questions that RAVE doesn't quite address.

What's the best way to do this? Do I need to take off the wheel or anything else? Seems like the fronts and rears are pretty different as well. RAVE seems to indicate that once they bottom out, they'll get pushed out to the correct gap once the truck moves.

I'm unclear if I need to re-set the light by jumping the OBD pins or it it will figure it out on its own. I guess I could just go in there and bust them down, but I figured someone could provide some guidance.

I'm really tempted to pull the sensors out and clean 'em up right but RAVE says I need to replace the bushings if the sensor is removed at all. Seems like it's just a basic stamped steel which shouldn't really deform. Can anyone confirm this one way or the other?

Pics of the fronts below. Driver's side cleaned up well with some brake cleaner but passenger side needs to be chiseled down--not sure where all this crap came from.

Here are the instructions to read the ABS codes. It is a bit of a hack but it works well.

Discovery I - ABS Blink Code Procedure

As far as knocking the sensors home, you only need to tap on them where it reads WABCO in your picture.

The sensors do go bad from time to time. Last time I checked I think FCEuro had them at the best price. Check Ebay as well.

Light will go out if the sensor picks up the tone wheel. Truck has to be rolling 5 mph before the light will extinguish. Use something flat faced like a wood dowel or wood trim scrap to tap the sensor home, doesn't require much effort. I used the handle of a decent size screw driver to tap on the dowel with, just the right weight. Just suggestions. Knowing the ABS codes is pretty useful, will tell you if the ABS brain box is a paper weight or which wheel sensor needs attention. The Diagnostic Connector is the OBDII port under driver's side dash, pin numbers are marked inside the connector near their corresponding pin.
