Default Where to buy reman / upgraded auto transmission

I have 99 disco 1 . I am dropping in a gems performance upgraded 4.6 . The "estimated" hp is about 250 hp. I have spent about 6k on the engine and now it's time to decide what to do for an auto trans.

I have zero interest in modifying a Zfhp22 with hp24 internals . I am looking to buy the strongest rebuilt hp22 possible ( within reasonable costs) . I would prefer to buy a hp22 that has been already upgraded to withstand higher hp, but I would settle for buying a standard 22hp built from a very trustworthy reputable person / company.

I would appreciate any and all suggestions and comments, but I would really appreciate contact info for someone who can sell me a STRONG zfhp22.

Thanks in advance

Whats wrong with your trans?
They use the same trans in BMW's and Jaguars.

My trans is severely slipping, And underrated for the engine. Hp22's were used behind the 4.0. , The 4.6's had hp24's behind them , but the hp24's are electronically controlled and the disco 1 doesn't support electronically controlled transmissions .

I am looking for someone who rebuilds / sells an hp22 that would be able to handle the hp of my engine.

I know it is technically possible to rebuild an hp22 with hp24 internals to strengthen it up. But I have no desire to do that myself. It's a little beyond me.

I would like to find someone who sells a performance upgraded hp22 , or at least someone who does quality standard remanufacturing.

Anyone have any experience or knowledge of these guys ....

Level 10 PTS Land Rover Bulletproof Transmission 4HP22,4HP24,5HP24,JR506E

Looks like a little overkill for what I need , but for that price it should be a tough trans.

Ashcroft rebuilds with the HD:

Stage 1 Upgrade
We can build the 4HP22 but fit the centre section of the box with the bigger 4HP24 internals which upgrades one of the weak links being the C1/C2 one way clutch, the 24 one is much stronger,

Check these out:
D&D Fabrications: Aluma Rides

D&D Fabricators also has a wealth of background with the Buick engine we all have and a multitude of upgrades. They do all sorts of vehicles including built MGB's and a lot of upgrades for Rover running gear (engines and tranny as well as other systems) as well as custom applications, give them a call:

Adapter Plates, Bellhousings, Clutches, Rear Ends, Starters, Transmissions, etc.

No problem, Ashcroft is the primary supplier on the heavy duty applications like military and industrial applications for LR.

D&D is one of the leading experts in the US for beefed up running gear. I would be happy to have either in my Discovery.

Let us know how it goes.

I would also find a local racing or truck shop in your area. I run a couple of F-350's at work, and the guys who built those transmissions had no problem doing a DII tranny. Billet torque converters and upgraded clutch packs as well as maybe a stronger output shaft would be all you would need, unless you plan on kicking the crap out of the truck daily.

A good local transmission shop is a godsend. A bad one will really wreck your day/wallet/marriage/hairline. So do your homework!
