Default Where is everyone getting the 91$ starter?

I have a 1997 DI left me stranded the other day. It cranks very slowly, and yesterday, not at all. I tried to hit it with a hammer, but no dice.

I'll check the battery and ground, but I am pretty sure I'll need a new starter.

Question: Where is everyone getting the 91$ starter? I have searched Oreilleys, NAPA and Auto ZOne and they are all about 200$.

91$ sounds much better to me, but I cant find one for double that!!

Any help appreciated.

Be sure to check the ground conection from negative battery to frame, down by bottom of radiator. The battery terminals must be kissable clean. The starter draws like 300 amps, so just a fraction of an ohm of built up resistance from corrosion can drop volts to a point where it won't go.

Bonking it with a hammer helps if the solenoid has a bad spot, since your's did not change, it is possible problem is electrical and not the starter. You can test this with jumper cables, (+) battery to big bolt on starter; and (-) battery to engine.

You can get one for $116 at rockauto, but I'd probably do the $35 used one over a cheap rebuild.

Or the fancier new one that Tom posted, if I had a rover that could use it... none of my current rovers can.

I was on my phone before so didn't elaborate. The Denso starter from britishstarters, IMO, can't be beat.
