Default Wierdness... Flashers

Took the wife out for her first official ride in the Disco today... Rode out a ways and then told her she could drive home.. Pulled over. Put it park. When I opened the drivers door the flashers started going off... Couldn't get them to turn off.. The flasher switch worked as it should and when it was actuated. The red triangle on the dash also flashed..

Not wanting to be stranded.. I didn't chance shutting the engine off to see if whatever it was would reset... I'm assuming it was something with the alarm.. I don't have a fob..

Anyway.. We drove home with the flashers on.. I shut it off and the flashers went out.. I then started it and got out and no flashers... Don't know what to think..

Any ideas ?? I haven't disabled my spider yet.. I can see that looming in the near future if this thing is going to act up.. I damn sure don't want to get somewhere and get immobilized... Guess I better find me a fob somewhere as well...Anybody know where to get a fob ? Ebay ? Dealer ? Are new ones still available ?

Thanks

John

My best guess is going to be the hood switch, if the hood bounces at all and the switch is out of adjustment it sets off the flashers.
You getting out of the truck may have been enough to trigger this.

Uh... The hood switch is unplugged...And prior to this we'd been over a few sets of tracks...Gonna double check to be sure..Yes, Hood switch was unplugged.

Ordered a fob off of ebay.. Guess I'm taking my chances there...

Ok, so thats ruled out.
I need to think about it, could have just been a Rover quirk.
In the mean time hopefully someone who has a answer will chime in.

If the hood switch can do that.. Then the most logical explanation is a chafe somewhere..

I gotta get that spider out of there... I had the cover and the gauges out going after burned out lamps and found all these splices under there on the switches with blue tape... Is that really factory ? Looked like they'd married all the grounds up and what not and wrapped the splices in blue tape...

check the inertia switch on the firewall (passenger side) maybe the jolt of the "tracks" jarred it a little loose
