Default Will D2 tires fit on stock D1?

Hey guy might be a dumb question but my buddy has a stock d2 that he just got new tires for. im looking to pick up his old set for cheap they still have 3/4 tredd.

The D2 tires are 255/65/R-16 and my stock D1 tires are 235/70/ R-16

My question is will those tires from the d2 fit on my stock d1 without any mods?

(I know the rims have a different bolt pattern so its not like we can just swap them to see if they rub)

At only .7" wider can't see why they won't fit. Looks very close to me.

No worries. The difference is so marginal I don't think you could get any closer in size. At first I thought I had the tire sizes wrong.

I’ve had Goodyear 255’s on my truck for two years now. No problems.

I put 255's on my D1 and only hear a rubbing on hard sharp turns, like pulling away from a curb. Also A WARNING!! DO NOT inflate the larger tires above 35 PSI. I fought a bad front end vibration at around 65 mph and it ended up being tire inflation. lowered it down to 35PSI and it smoothed right out. Of course that was after a total front axle rebuild, new shocks, Ball joints and multiple front end alignments and tire balancing..

Also keep in mind that the larger tires will not match the stock spare tire so you may want to swap that out too.

Hmmm, I ran 255/65/16's on a '95 DI for at least a year. The tires were General A/T 2's. I never had a problem with them. I actually liked the size quite a bit. They seemed to improve the ride and stability (even at speeds above 60 mph). I can't recall the amount of air pressure I ran the tires at but I typically keep fronts around the 35 PSI that Jim warned you about with the rears around 38 PSI.

Yea i am getting all 5 changed over, mine are pretty dry rotted from sitting when i bought it, i think it should be fine i will definitely be underneath it trying to see if anything rubs on the fenders, but that vibration is a good point as well i will keep an eye out for that might be something to watch out for thanks!!

i was actually loking a general at's but the ones i will be putting on are Michelin nothing fancy. this is more of a budget build for me. a good set of all terrain would prob be more then i paid for the whole truck ahah. ony $800 and probably put that into in parts to get a sticker but did the work myself so she has been good so far! i think these tires are a safe bet, just something to watch out for is the rubbing and vibration!
