Default Will a snorkel designed to fit an ABS model fit in a non-ABS model?

Hi there,

I've just bought my first off-roader, a 1996 Discovery 1 3.9l V8 (literally less than 24 hours ago) and have been advised by my friends that I'll be joining on trips that I'll need a snorkel for the stuff they do, so now I've gotta fit a snorkel to it!

My problem is that the ones in my price range all specify that they're for the ABS equipped model, which mine is not. I know that different snorkel brands may be different, but in general are there actually any differences between the airboxes of the ABS and non-ABS equipped models that would stop a kit designed for ABS from working? I'm hoping perhaps the only difference will be that the ABS snorkel kits take a slightly different route to avoid the ABS pump but that it would still work in a non-ABS model. Hopefully I'm making sense!

If it's of any use this is the kit I'm hoping to fit https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car...a4f7f54269-001

Cheers,
James

I bought the one listed and got on pretty well! It was basically identical to the one from this video:

The main difference being that mine is a V8 petrol and the flexible rubber tube going from the air flow sensor to the inlet was too long after relocating the air box meaning I couldn’t put the top of the filter box back on. This was easily fixed by cutting away at the the tube from the throttle side until it was shifted enough for the lid to fit. I cut about a centimetre at a time until it fit so that I didn’t go too far.

I also had to reroute some wiring that usually runs along the passenger side of the engine bay otherwise the tube from the snorkel to the air box wouldn’t fit.

So yes, in my case at least with a bit of fettling an ABS snorkel will fit an non-ABS vehicle.
