I need to replace my windshield and I am looking for recommendations. I have located a used one that is a recent replacement (Pilkington brand) from a late 97. I will be using this in a 94 but plan to use the newer style mirror with map lights. I am not sure that the 94 windshield will accept the newer mirror without changing the mount block on the glass which is very difficult to locate.
Any info on new glass and what cost to expect. I am trying to decide if I want to bother with the used one or just bite the bullet and go new.
Thanks

I do know that it was installed within the last 4 to 5 months and looks to be blemish free. They rarely crack during install and are way more likely to crack during removal. Basically what it boils down to is price of a new one. I can install this one and be done for less than $75 and I have been qouted $300 for a new one installed. Just not sure if that is the going rate for a new one or if this is what to expect. I do not have to replace mine but it is heavily scratched and has repaired stone damage. I have the headliner out now and this would be the ideal time for me to take care of replacement.

For $75 you cant really go wrong. If it doesnt crack when being removed its not going to crack, glass isnt a rotating assembly, what you see is what you get. The new ones are pricey and 9/10 times you'll just get some off shore Chinese POS anyway as genuine quality stuff is hard to come by. Not sure about the rear view mirror mount but I'm sure one can be found if needed.

What rubber? The windshield is not set in place like the rear side and rear door glass. It is bonded (glued) in place with a finishing trim.
The price I mentioned includes purchase of the installation kit with me providing the labor.
