Default Wooden center console

HAs anyone ever tried replacing the wooden center console on a 98 Disco? Mines in a terrible state and I've found a replacement on eBay. I don't, however, want to fork out $100 on a replacement part only to find out the other is nigh on impossible to get out :-/

I'm not sure if the wooden one installs differently, but I'm guessing yours is just plastic with wood veneer, if so:

1) pop off bezel around automatic shifter base.

2) pop off bezel at base of diff lock shifter, then unscrew **** and remove(lefty loosy).

3) open console storage, remove 2 screws at base/bottom of storage.

4) lift up boot on e brake to expose the brake cable connector. There is a clip that slides onto the post, take off/pull up clip, push post out. Then pull e brake up vertically till its almost standing straight up.

5) lift out center console carefully.

If you need photos of a certain part of the process, let me know. Step 4 is key to not break the console during removal.

Good luck

Pop off the bezel around the shifter and pull up the cdl boot. Unscrew the two screws and lift the front to unhook the two hooks on the window switch side

I need to take them, is there a specific photo that you need? Its pretty straightforward except for maybe the e brake cable.

Let me know what you need most.

If that's the hard part of the exchange, then the brake cable piece will help. Thanks!
