Default WTH....Drive Side Panhard Bar Bolt

Ok, So i thought i would swap out my panhard bar bushings today, but i ran into a little setback. I know how to work around it, but maybe someone can enlighten me as to why this was done like this. I cannot remove the drive side bolt for the panhard bar because it will hit the radius arm.

I know i can jack up the frame enough to get the bolt to clear the arm, but I thought might throw off my "alignment" with the panhard bar when I go back to install it....creating more work. Am I missing something here?
Can I install the bolt back the other way....cant see any reason why not.

I generally find older Land Rovers (D1 and older) quite easy to work on with very few "WTF?" moments but that is a little strange.

If it were me, I'd cut off the bolt and put a new one in the other way round.

"Hey Nigel, boy will this guy be confused when he tries to change his panhard bushings!!".
Pretty sure that's how it went at the factory.
As mentioned, cut it. Push it out as far as you can and Sawzall it. Drive the rest out with a punch. Reinstall new bolt the proper way.

Thanks guys. Looks like i will be making a trip to the hardware store.
And I agree, this disco has been pretty straight forward to work on. This was just one of those moments when it just seemed to be completely backwards for the British to do that. What I thought would be a 20min job has now turned into a 3hr deal by the time i run around and find that bolt.

I've never had that issue, I guess because all my trucks have been lifted. I would have just jacked the frame up a little to get it out. You will need to use a ratchet strap to align it again anyway.

The only WTF moments I have on the D1 usually come from the electrical.

I've 'owned' this moment, with 'that' bolt myself......documented the moment in my build thread. It's 'utterly' ridicules as well as the bracketry 'created' in that area...........some one was trying to justify their job.....total BS, the engineering is simply.....over the top deluxe!!

Found my bolt to even be worn thin.......I've worked on much older vehicles, and never witnessed that....So many 'amazing' moments working on these things....
