Default $ to high for ABS scan

Called my only local Independant LR service provider with in 50 mi. to have my ABS system scanned. They said it would be $147, to high??? Sounds almost like dealer price's to me!

FYI, anybody looking for an Independant LR service center in Maryland:
English Auto LLC in Odenton Md
Airpark Rovers in Rockville Md
Treasured Motorcar Services in Reisterstown Md

Hope it helps.

Yes it is way too high, especially from a small shop.
Something closer or under a hundred, although still too expensive is the norm, unless you live in an area where they can gouge you.

I would make sure they will clear the codes after they are read and recorded. Many times the trio will come on because of a momentary glitch and not a failure, so make sure they will turn the lights of and let you drive it to see if they come back.

If you're new and don't mind investment look at Rovacom. You can get a unit that will read/reset almost everything in the vehicle for about $1100. May look high at first, but at even $100 a read/reset that's only 11 times in the life of the vehicle.

When your hubs start to wear and your brakes squeal or you pull or tear an ABS line, those resets can go pretty rapidly too.

I got one because I do expedition travel, can't have a vehicle you can't diagnose alone with the tools you have with you when you're hundreds of miles from help.

Depends which one you get, http://www.blackbox-solutions.com/ has details. They launched some modular even lower cost model after I got mine that I haven't looked at too closely.
