I checked two other dealers and $800 was the average quote....even in Scottsdale! One non-dealer shop who specializes in Jags, Rovers and Rolls autos quoted almost that $1300 number but that included new plugs, wires, intake gaskets, wipers, etc...

Wow! $1300?
Our service shop next door (which is all Land Rover) charges about $600.00 for the 60K service, and that is with a labor rate of $125/hr.
If you can't do it yourself, or don't have a mechanic friend as Disco Mike was mentioning, find yourself a independent Land Rover shop. The dealers typically charge almost twice what a independent does. The challenge is finding a shop that has real Land Rover experience--- not merely British car experience.

I think my dealer quoted me $1000 for the 60K when I asked a couple years ago. The nearby independent shop quoted me $850. Made some time and did it myself. The tranny fill is kind of tricky. Make sure you get a fluid pump with a long hose. Laying under the hot exhaust pipes pumping oil into the tranny really sucks!

There are several shops in Baton Rouge that I wouldn't go to. But I do know of one who has got a great reputation. Call Jeff Cobb at 225 343 7525. He runs an honest shop, that you can depend on.
As for pricing, it never ceases to amaze me that people think that they should be paying ebay prices for quality service. Probably the biggest reason I sold my places! Remember two things, and there are no exceptions to these rules.
Of Fast, Cheap, or Good. Pick two.....you can't have all three!
And secondly, If you are looking for quality service, you have to remember one more thing. You pay these guys for what they know...... not what they do!
Take care.
