$1300 for the 60K mile checkup...is that right?

RE: $1300 for the 60K mile checkup...is that right?
I just wanted to thank you, "Old Off Roader" for the Baton Rouge referral of Mr Jeff Cobb. My husband took the Disco there today and said he's going to continue to use him. He was very nice, knowledgable and reasonable. Other mechanics were having trouble finding the plug for the computer to read the "service engine soon" light. He found it easily (it had been jammed up alittle out of place for some reason). By the way, it was just the fuel cap so there was no major problem to fix.
Anyway, thanks again for the referral!!!!

It is good that you found a mechanic that you are comfortable with, make sure he changes the plug wires replacing them with a good guality wire like the 8mm Magnacor wires. Yours will be weak at your mileage and by replacing then you will regain some lost performance.
Good luck,
Mike

Wow, thanks for the huge list! Now, I need to buy the parts to do the service as the nearest dealer is 4 hours from me and I can do all of that myself anyway.
Know what type of oils for the transmission and gearboxes? I also want to change the diff fluids. Just did a complete brake job a couple of weeks ago and flushed the fluid. Dealer replaced the belt about 10K ago. Not much left to do for me.
Thanks!
-Steve

RE: $1300 for the 60K mile checkup...is that right?
They're including the plugs and wires which about 600 $ alone, if you buy there parts and there labor. Just did the 60k service but already did the plugs/wires and it was around 600.
Though, like others have said you can do A lot of the work by your self. Their going to charge a crap load for simple stuff like oil change, diff oil change, brake fluid, coolant, ect ect. They even charge a bunch for changing the air filter.... I would do the simple stuff and leave the dealer or an independent to do the stuff your not comfortable doing.
