Default 01 Disco

Hello, I origanaly posted this in the Newbie section, Sorry!! I have a 2001 Disco with 84,000 miles on. I was passing another another car where I was taching about 5,000 rpm`s when it started running rough. Like a cylinder wasn`t firering. Then the check engine light came on. Next week I`m due for a Pa state inspection. It now runs fine other than the light being on.
Disco Mike told me to take it to a local auto parts store to get the codes read. Which I did and it said # 8 cylinder miss fire. The guy working there reset the code and now the light is off. YEA!!!! Thanks Disco Mike for the very much appreciated Info. Probably was just a peice of dirt in the injector.

Thanks !!!!

Next time write the code numbers down cause lots of time, the auto part guys don't know how to interpert what the code means.
How long have you had the truck, have the plugs been changed, how about the plug wires? Have you ever decarboned the engine? What octane gas are you using?
Your light will come back on again as soon as you nail it hard again so you might as well be prepared to do some work on it.

Hey Mike, The code was PO308 #8 cylinder misfire. Last August I had the code PO305 in which the Landrover dealer replaced that plug & wire. I use 92 octane always. I`m a small engine technition for OPE. So Iknow how to turn a wrench. I would like to know the procedure to decarbon the engine?

A couple questions, what plugs are you using, are the pulk of your wires original?
I usually siggest doing three things when doing an induction cleaning. SeaFoam in the tank along with SeaFoam as the induction cleaner, cleaning the throttle body and plate along with the idle unit and give your engine a goos engine flush.
If you want to go into detail on it, send me your tele number and a good time to call and i can walk you thru it.
