are they dana 44's. if not what are they? thanks in advance

No.
They are Rover axles and diff's.

My front diff has a slight leak and i was thinking dana 44 seals would be quite common. I haven't looked but maybe i can get a seal at atlantic british ?
Once again, let me thank you guys for all the info. This is a great resource for a rookie like me.

Where is the diff leaking from?
A clogged axle breather can over pressurize the diff(s) and then force the gear lube out of the weakest point.
So check your axle breather first, take it off and blow through it, also remove it from the axle if you can and make sure that is also clear.

...and if the front axle breather is retained in the axle the same way as the rear axle on the DII, stay tuned for my how-to on breather removal this weekend.

ok, i'll be waiting for your tutorial because i have no idea where the axle breather is or how it is retained. Thanks
ps, it is seeping out where the driveshaft connects to the housing.

I have got check out these axle breathers you mention. I was totally unaware of their existence. Guess I'll read the RAVE and go exploring underneath the beast again.
