Default '01 Disco2 Shifting problems and vibration

I have had my Disco for about 4 months. Had the 50k mile work done the day i got it. Had it done at a private euro auto guy though. First question i have is what kind of fluid goes in a 01 Disco transmission? The book calls for Dextron, but i have read and heard several places to use ZF. So what is actually MEANT to go in it. That aside, shortly after the 50k mile work it started making a low pitched rumble that has been getting worse and worse over the past months. It has also been shifting a bit odd, for example, if you are going up a hill, once you reach the top and start to pick up some speed when the shift occures it lurches badly, and the rpm doesnt change, almost like it didnt shift at all. The other day i was sitting in line at a fast food joint and was getting annoyed by the before mentioned rumble, so i turned the a/c off, no change, i then shifted in to N and it was quiet as a mouse. Any ideas?? Thanks

Dexton 2 or 3 which is the synthetic version is what you want to be using.
As for the rumbling, I would suggest you check both drive shafts, especially the front one where the double cardon housing hooks to the t/case. There are no grease fitting on those two u-joints and it is common to have them fail, and in turn breaking the tranny case.
Are you getting any check engine lights? If so, go have the codes read right away. If the tranny shifting problem continues to happen, go to a good shop where they have theproper scanner to plug into your computer and go have them drive the truck so they can watch the tranny functions on their scanner.
Good luck,
Mike

No Check engine lights, just the shifting and noise. I actually have it down at the shop right now for them to take a look at. It is such a blessing to have a import auto shop next door But i do feel better hearing that it is dex. 3 that supposed to go in there

When you say an import shop, is it a Rover shop, if not don't waist alot of your time.
Make sure someone checks that double cardon.
