02 DII Transmission Leak
When I removed the inspection plug the fluid came pouring out. At the time it had been sitting for about two hours. If I wanted to get some of the excess fluid out, should I run it a little bit, then take the inspection plug back out and let the excess drain out from there until it is just dripping?

Thanks for the help. Looking @ the RAVE CD. It appears there is a breather tube in about the location that the ATF is dripping down the bellhousing. If it is overfilled would it back out of the breather tube and leak down?

If though, the tranny is overheating, them yes it might vent.
Do you know how to check the fluid level, if so check it today, while the engine is running and the tranny is in park.
Let us know what happens.
By the way, the dealers reply is most likely so they can hit you with a $1200 bill to pull and fix a seal.
Mike,
Checks out fine now. Small stream. I think It was over about 1 quart as to what was on my floor over the last month and what came gushing out yesterday. Ther was nothing on the floor today. Will keep an eye on it for future leaks.
If it was to overheat, wouldn't there be a warning light?
Thanks,
John

Dropped it off at LR Louisville this afternoon. They are pretty good at not bending you over. I'm leary of transmission issues as I had to rebuild one only to have the case crack 10K miles into it. They're just going to give it the once over to see if they see anything obvious. Let you guys know what they find out.
Pan Gasket cracked and leaking. Which is why it only did it after it sat for a day or two and the fluid level wnet above the pan as it drained down. $245 to replace the gasket and do a tranny service at the same time, new filter, o-ring, etc....
I am having the door lock actuators replaced as well on the front. The passenger side has been out for 8 months and the drivers for a couple of weeks. Pain in the *** to have to keep reaching across to unlock when we take the Disco out, especially in the rain........
Wife doesn't like that a whole lot. So just having those done while it's there. They will try to have it done today, but probably Monday. In no real hurry as I don't have a lot going this weekend and we have the wifes Outback.
Thanks everyone for all of the advice and help.
John
P.S. - The Tech Mgr said he has seen 3 Disco's overfilled vent through the tube.
