Default 02 disco se II abs amigo fix

Puchased the abs amigo last week and recieved it this weekend. Turns off the 3 amigos as promised but they come back on within 2 days or so. The amigo isnt showing any faults except 1 TIME it shows bad read from front right sensor. Have done this 3 times now to clear lights and they return. Is it time to visit the dealer or should I replace the front right sensor and see what happens???? Ive read through the forum here with everyone having problems with the 3 and just want to know if anybody has gotten it fixed for good?? Thanks for the help guys!

The sensors can work intermittently before they completely fail. No dealer necessary, best bet is to test the sensor to rule out a bad hub. If your sensor still has the plug in connector, unplug it and check resistance with a multimeter on the ohms setting. You should find a resistance of greater than 1000 ohms.

For what it's worth, if it checks out OK I'd still replace the sensor first as it's the cheapest and most likely culprit and if that doesn't fix it pick up a used hub and put your new sensor on it. The hub's an easy replacement no need to go to the dealer... the only hard part would be, if you're into doing things the right way, finding a torque wrench at a reasonable price that'll do 360 lb ft for the stake nut.

What exactly shows up when you read the codes?
Have you flushed the brake fluid recently, are you brakes squeaking at all?

Thanks for the input guys! I will try what tee said.

Mike, below is what the amigo brings up. Im not sure about the brake fluid as I just purchased it from a guy about 2 months ago. He had the brakes replaced and thats when the lights came on. He took it to a mechanic he didnt know and he told him it was the abs pump to which he replaced and still no results...Sounds like a shotty mechanic just ripping him off to which he agreed. Needless to say, I talked him off a good amount on the purchase for this problem. Just hoping its a simple fix!

check the color of the fluid is it like honey or like chocolate syrup? i would start by changing the fluid out. using something synthetic is best. sounds like you are not far from a failing sensor.

So you have either a bad sensor or a bad hub or both. If the hub appears sound then it is probably the sensor. You can always try to diagnose a bad sensor with a multimeter.

Lipad- just curious, how exactly can the hub "appear sound"? Of course if your bearings are bad that would be obvious, but are there any other indicators? Also would bad bearings trigger an ABS fault? Is there a typical expected mileage life for OEM hubs?

the bearings begin to go and the hub shakes which disrupts the ABS signal setting off the sensor and bringing you your new friends the 3 amigos.
