02 sensor question
I have an 04 get the check engine light code was for the upstream 02 pass side...I know to change both sides my question is
I have heard pros and cons about using a non bosch 02 does it really make a diff Please No speculation or hearsay but from people who have actually used both
the diff is quite a bit especially replacing 2

both sets were brand new and both sets came via Amazon
My experience has been that the cheapest knock-off O2 sensors are the best at reducing the Check Engine codes, while the high Dollar sensors seem to deliver better fuel economy.
O2 sensors just measure oxygen. At best, a high-Dollar O2 sensor will give you better fuel economy by sensing a more precise air/fuel ratio, faster.
At worst, the high-Dollar O2 delivers the same fuel economy.
In between best and worst cases, old O2 sensors slow down their ability to read (and their precision reading) Oxygen in your exhaust as carbon and rust build up on the old sensors.
A new but cheap O2 sensor is probably going to outperform a high Dollar but long-used O2 sensor.
The proof is in your gas mileage. Change O2 sensors and price points until you find a pair that gives you your best MPG.
When the engine is first started the computer is in what is called “open loop” and will ignore any signal from the O2 sensor.
In the open loop mode the engine operations are controlled by a predetermined specification contained in the computer's memory. The fuel mixture is set to run rich and stays that way until the system goes into “closed loop” and then begins using the O2 sensor signal to vary the fuel mixture.
That's when new O2 sensors matter, in closed loop.
A faulty O2 sensor, limp home mode, full throttle, and cold start are possible conditions where your engine's fuel computer might choose to stay in open loop (which ignores O2 sensors). Open Loop will arguably have terrible gas mileage.
