My Nanocom Evolution for my petrol DII can display fuel trims, but a much better choice is the Ultra-Gauge, which I also have.

To me, using the Nanocom to observe fuel trims would be clunky. My Ultra-Gauge is set up so that one of the pages it cycles through every 3 seconds shows O2 sensor volts plus short-term and long-term fuel trims. It's always on my dashboard between the A-pillar and the instrument cluster, making it easy to monitor fueling all the time.

Monitoring fuel trims is actually best done with something that can plot analog data on a graph like the free torque app using an ELM 327 Bluetooth device. There are other devices that will work as well but you really want something with an analog output

My cheap Autel scanner can read fuel trims, but can’t plot them which as Extinct says, is very helpful. I can tell you that anything greater than +/- 10% will throw a code and that as o2 sensors age they read lean, causing the ECU to increase the fuel trim. Given how expensive gas is and how low the fuel economy is on the D2 plus the ease of replacing the front ones I highly recommend it because it pays for itself pretty quick! Get on O2 sensor socket tool, of course . My rear ones throw a code every once in a while and I check what the code is on my scangauge, I’ve memorized the rear O2 codes at this point and just clear them.

Very helpful info, Greisinb. I wasn't aware plus or minus ten percent was the threshold for throwing a code.... so even if I wind up with a non-analog depiction of the sensor activity, I'll have something to go on. I've been put in touch with a fellow who has a nearly-new OTC Encore scanner (with 2023 software), and have really liked what the videos show for its capacities. (On occasion I have non-Land Rover customers come to me!) I don't think it does EPB activations though, and I'm certainly not counting on any air suspension capacities for LR3's either..... so a Nanocom "Evolution" is likely still in the works too.

Is there such a thing as "cleaning" an oxygen sensor?

@rob bartleman Not really, there are products that claim to do it, but I find good long highway run is just as good. Run 50 to 60 MPH (80 to 100KPH) for 2 or 3 ours steady, I gain about a1 to 1.5 MPG after a run like that. But most of of driving is short local runs.
