Default Coolant, 2004 Disco

What brand/kind of coolant is best for my 2004 Disco?

It’s important not to mix types. Mixing brands is okay if it’s the same type. I think most of us use the green/yellow type, like Prestone. Some use the orange type, like Dexcool.

Don't use Dexcool and don't mix coolants. Any generic green/yellow stuff should be fine, and it's what I've been running in mine for years without issue

The general consensus is to do a coolant flush to get rid of the "recommended" red/orange Dex-Cool and replace it with regular green Prestone. Dexcool sludges up with oxygen contact and on a lot of these leaky D2's there's a lot of oxygen contact! Dexcool has better corrosion properties with aluminum over the long term but if you regularly change out (every 2 years) the green coolant it will be fine.
