I bought this 03 SLABS unit off eBay so I do not know if the vehicle had SLS or not. I need it to be setup for coils. Is there any way I can tell if SLS is enabled after installing without a Nanocom? Thanks.
I am pretty sure you will have to program it for (or vice versa 'or remove') SLS w/ testbook or nanocom.....or you get the 3 friends.... easy to find out...just plug the new unit in an see....
I put an 03/04 slabs in my 01 without issue...and I also hooked up the wiring for the functional locking c-diff in that same 01, no SLS....

So if SLS is enabled on this SLABS and I swap it into my 01 it will kick off the tres amigos? If so, thats perfect because I currently dont have them. (knocks on wood). I didn't know an sls issue would cause 3 amigos.

It wouldn't. Other responses are incorrect.
If the SLABS came from a truck with SLS enabled you'll need a Nanocom or a Hawkeye or something similar to switch the setting to coils. If there's an indy shop near you that works on Rovers they may have an Autocom that could do it too, if you can't find someone else nearby.
A SLABS set up for air springs will not trigger the Three Amigos for that reason alone. But, the truck it came from may have had the Boys from South of the Border already triggered and stored.
The symptom you'll see if your truck had air springs originally and the SLABS is set for air springs may be faster than normal battery drain, as the SLABS runs the SLS compressor trying to level the truck. This is what happened with my truck years ago.
If your truck never had air springs (and there is therefore not SLABS compressor) there may be no symptoms.
A used Hawkeye is great too but the company Bearmach dropped all support of all HawkEye units years ago. FYI, Bearmach closed up their company for good this past September 2nd. Long gone are the days of getting free firmware updates, transferring Hawkeye ownership and/or purchasing dongles for older units.
Also put a newer SLABS from an 04 in my 02 and haven't had any issues; pretty easy swap so if 3 amigos turn on just swap it back to your old unit temporarily.

I have an iCarsoft to clear ABS codes. I just didn't want it to run down my battery because of SLS. It sounds like if I don't have an SLS pump then it can't try to level so sounds like im good to go! Thanks for the responses everyone.
