If you have an "SLS" SLABS in a non SLS truck, you will get an SLS warning light on the dash if you don't have the system installed I believe... right? (that's how you'd know if it was an air suspension enabled SLABS box)

Okay, I unplugged the old SLABS unit and plugged in the 03 unit and it seems like everything functions as it should and no more CDL lights after a restart. For now its, just dangling by the wire harnesses. Anyone know of a good write up for the actual removal process? It looks to be a bear and I don't want to pull anything out I don't have to. Thanks

There is a 14mm nut you remove, and then the bracket can be taken down and give you access

The procedure is detailed in the RAVE (starting on p.900 of the PDF I have). You first remove the BCU after removing the glove box. That gives access to a nut waaay back in there that you remove to remove the bracket holding the SLABS box. I've done it three times, most recently just a couple weeks ago. Not difficult, just tedious.

If you don't have a copy of the RAVE you can download it from the link in my signature below.

Thank you for the replies. I only had to remove the glovebox door and the underdash cover. Apparently the SLABS had been changed out before and the person was kind enough to not put that very back nut on the bracket so it was just a matter of getting the bottom 2 and the front top off which was easy. I didn't have to remove the BCU or anything else.
