Default '03 D2 Remote Key FOB No Longer Works

I was trying to remove the car stereo on my 03 Discovery 2. Tried all sorts of removal keys and even brought it to Best Buy and a local installer but they couldn't get the stereo out.

So I tried other things.... removed the coin tray and ash tray assembly, removed the climate control, removed the clock, hoping I can gain access to the back of the car stereo to push it out. Yes, my hand could get to the back of the stereo but it is still stubbornly locked.

But I have another problem... with the climate control unit and the clock/door lock switch unit disconnected, my remote key FOBs no longer work. I reconnected the clock and door switch unit but still doesn't work.

What happened? Appreciate any help from you

I had something similar happen and it was a fuse in the box underneath the steering wheel. I think it was 19.

Actually fuse 20. It's included with radio memory, cd player, engine remobilization and interior lights.

Smile '03 D2 Remote Key FOB Problem Solved!

Dear bigcraigman

Thank you! As you stated, it was a bad fuse (F20) that was the problem! My remote key FOB works again!

Just for my info, any idea why that happened? Would pulling on the radio or removing the climate control or removing the clock blow the fuse?

Thanks again

To be honest no. Some of the land rover wizards might be able to by explaining how all the wires are connected in series circuit and what you probably did etc etc. I was just changing a dome light bulb and saw it short and when it shorted I lost my radio clock and fob. Took me a while to find out what fuse it was because our key fob is not actually listed so I just started eliminating what I had and didn't have. glad that was the fix.
