'03 D2 - vibrations at 47mph and 67 mph...
...or right around those speeds - some days it's better, others it is worse.
The '03 D2 has about 64,000 miles on it now - around 50K when I bought it. I have tried 16", 18" and 19" wheels on it - same issues.
Last week I put new 19" Michelin tires on the car - their Latitude Tour HP in 255/55-19. Conditions improved markedly - but between 45 and 50 it still goes through a "shiver" band, the same as always: btw 65-70 mph. Otherwise smooth as can be. The tire place says the rims are both perfectly round and balanced.
I had a '99 D2 prior to this one - bought that Disco new, with 18" wheels and Michelin Synchrones - occasionally it also had the "shivers" - but it was more an indication of bad alignment or out of balance wheels, it went away after tire shop visits.
Unless someone has brilliant ideas on what to do now my thoughts are getting it to an experienced Rover specialist and get a professional opinion. I haven't had much luck with the main LR dealer in Atlanta - I find them arrogant and with a "let's throw some parts at it" attitude.
Does anyone have recommendations? Any good indie shops in the greater Atlanta area that know how to deal with misbehaving Discos?
Thanks!
Thomas

I agree with mike, do all that he suggests. In addition, my brother converted to larger Range Rover OEM rims. He was also getting vibration. He purchased hubcentric rings (any auto parts store should have them) and all the vibrations went away. The rings are very thin and fit inside the center of the rim.

I've never actually used them for work, but I've heard people who have and liked them.

Check out this thread from the General Tech Help sub-forum:
Independent Land Rover Mechanics
There are four listed for Metro Atlanta.
I used Enzo's in Norcross for my pre-purchase inspection. And I know that my car was maintained (by the previous owner) by Enzo's here in Marietta.
