Default Independent Land Rover Mechanics

This is a list of independent Land Rover specialty mechanics. If you have someone you would like to add to the list just post it as a reply and I will edit my post to contain all of them to make it easier when you open the thread. Just because a business is listed here does not mean that either myself or the forum itself suggests you use them. This is simply an informational thread. Know what you are getting yourself into before you commit to any mechanic. Thanks and keep on rovin!

aint many out there, trust me the only good land rover independants are former techs that start there own shops after dealing with the dealer bs. Otherwise they are just guys with lots of time on their hands who learn at your expense.

i disagree with that. i stopped by my local indie shop for the first time yesterday. the owner of the shop had a 5spd D1 with 185k on it. he also had a 01 Range Rover that he kept at the shop. He diagnosed my SRS light for free for me. But he also had a Lotus up on the rack, a Porsche his son was working on and a AMG Mercedes waiting to be worked on. He knew his stuff about Land Rovers and if I needed some work I would bring my rig to him with full confidence he knows what hes doing. He never worked for Land Rover. He has learned about the trucks like most of us have and I feel he knows a great deal about all different models of Land Rover. I have passed by and seen Defenders and Series trucks at his shop.

There are four that I'm aware of in the Atlanta, GA Metro Area:

Norcross, GA - The Shop - (678) 352-4900 - 727 West Peachtree Street, Norcross, GA, 30071 - http://www.roverrepairshop.com/

Chamblee, GA - Enzo's Automotive Service - (770) 451-4921 - 3701 Longview Dr, Chamblee, GA 30341 - http://www.jaguar-rover-service.com/

Marietta, GA - Enzo's Automotive Service - (770) 956-0207 - 2007 Airport Ind Park Dr Se, Marietta, GA 30060 - http://www.jaguar-rover-service.com/

Atlanta, GA - Road Britannia Ltd. - (404) 266-1699 - 3190 Roswell Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30305 - http://bellsouthpwp.net/r/o/roadbrit/

So far, I have only had personal experience with Enzo's in Chamblee, who handled my pre-purchase inspection. I was happy with them.

you just agreed with me when you said that he has to learn the same way you guys do. The hard way. We as dealers have access to info and the right tools to do the job. Something an independant can not do. Trust me I have fixed more crap from so called import specialists. They may know a land rover but not all land rovers. They will lie to you and tell you that they have worked on a land rover but thats like an American LR tech saying he is good with all land rovers regardless of country. Doesn't work if a diesel comes in. If you want to be called an independant land rover specialist you have to know all of them. Regardless of model or year. And if he is a good qualified independant LR tech, he will have access to GTR for all the latest up to date bulletins and information regardless of year. Not to mention he will have a testbook or testbook equivalent and an IDS computer with the latest updates. And trust me it takes lots of time to load patches and new updates every week. Not to mention reading all the info that comes out from Land Rover.

My local dealer couldnt solve my rough road code...

I'm sure the dealers have the most up to date information, they charge the prices to prove it.

I also believe the dealers will be the only ones able to work on the newer trucks like the LR4. I don't see my indie mechanic sucking oil out of my engine with a vacuum and finding the special oil to replace it with that cheap and readily available from AB....

On the other hand, ANY mechanic Land rover indie or domestic mechanic started out the same way.

Yes the dealer is probably the most correct and safest way to take care of your truck. However for most people on this forum going to the dealer for everything from a three amigo issue to a stuck gate door it just dumb and exspensive.

If there is an independent mechanic that has knowledge of Land Rovers and has the tools and information to make correct repairs then I don't see why that is such a bad thing. Besides the fact that it takes money away from the Dealerships.

Shout out to The Shop (Norcross, GA). Friendly staff, and extremely knowledgeable. The guys had a part truck, and not only did they have almost all of the parts I needed to fix my truck from a wreck, but showed me what they were doing and how to do it, and let me use their tools. Excellent for me, a college student, because I certainly don't have a full garage nor all of the tools. They have a customer for life for anything I can't handle in my garage or driveway.
