'03 DII Fuel issue...?
Okay... First, I just bought my first Rover last December, and this is my first issue, so I'm an admitted newbie to the LRs. I was a BMW guy until I decided I wanted to climb big mountains... ;-)
The issue: It started to have issues restarting after running. Abruptly, it would start and run when cold, and then not after stopping. Waiting 10-15 minutes would allow it to start again. Then in the course of a day, it went to more than a half hour before it would start. So I parked it, and started researching.
I have now removed nearly all the interior in the back, and lifted the carpet to expose the fuel pump access. I confirmed that when the key is turned, there's no action with the pump. So... my questions before I drop hundreds on a pump.......
It has about 70K miles, and a somewhat dubious maintenance history. Can anyone give odds on the pump being the problem? I know there are about a dozen sensors that effect the fuel delivery, and I'm replacing the pump relay and filter as a matter of good practice, but is it appropriate for the pump to crap out at this age? Is there anything else I should test before dropping $409 at the dealership for the OEM pump? (Should I bother with the OEM, or is the aftermarket one okay? It's $317, but it's worth a C-Note to not have to tear out the interior again anytime soon...) Oh! AND... when I bought it, I was getting close to 14.5 mpg, and it dropped to about 11.5... any connection? Oxy sensor? Thoughts?
Thanks y'all!!!

td5 auto gearbox fault
Okay, well totally new to this so bear with me please. Just bought a 2001 TD5 auto with 70k on it. Full landy history. Gearbox serviced at 49k. Had a bump in front but nothing serious. Left standing for 2 months and now car drives to 3100rpm before it changes gear into third and then limp home mode! Plugged into landy diagnostics comes up with "stall speed monitoring"? when driven with diagnostic plugged in there is no speed out put from the gearbox? It also does not register the gear your in. The dash shows the gear your in so if you move the stick up and down it will go up and down on the dash. Sounds like a speed censor to me but i dont no one fron another? where are they situated? Does the switchgear play up? Due to it being stood could it be as simple as the battery?? starts the car first turn of the key? No engine codes and no engine lights light up. Just the M & S light flash when limp home mode activated? any help??
