03 disco has bad rod knock... have been quoted a rebuild cost of 3300$
my 03 disco... is in bad shape... been tracking a misfire down and oil leaks for about 1 month. i've spent 1k$ in repairs already and now i have a rod knock after doing the ATF oil flush.
took it to a local engine builder and was given a solid quote of 3300$ to remove, rebuild with old engine (re-sleave, new pistons and rings, new lifters, new timing set, polish crank) and re-install .
i think the price is right considering it comes with a written 2/24k warranty.
what do you guys think.

Yeah that price does not sound to bad.
Now as a HUGE FYI...you MUST have the oil changed no more than 500 miles after the rebuild and you MUST have proof.
Have the first oil change after the rebuild done at the dealer, keep the reciept, without it the warranty on the engine is no good.
Two of my customers at my old job rebuilt engines and they both required a oil change with proof within 500 miles of when you picked up your car.
IF the engine went bad during the warranty period and you did not have proof that the oil was changed at 500 miles then you had no warranty.
They both had 100,000 mile warranties on their rebuilds.
Also have you looked in to a Jasper engine?
