Default '03 Disco More Lift! 2" done

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased and installed the full Terrafirma 2" lift spring conversion and I'd like to add additional lift to my Discovery II.

I've since completed the install and it looks great! If you want to see photos, come check out my Instagram: 03DiscoKen

I'm looking to add a 1" spring spacer on the front shocks and 1.5" spring spacers on the rears.

Having said that, I have some questions and also looking for some advice.

1. Will I need to remove the cross bar under the front drive shaft after I install the 1" spacers in the front?

2. Will I need to purchase a new front drive shaft to accommodate the additional height? Total of 3" lift after spacers are installed. As of now, with the 2" lift, it's operating just fine with no issues.

3. I know I'll have to purchase the longer brake lines. But is there an extension that can be purchased for the wheel speed sensors?

4. I know placing a spring spacer on the front springs will not affect the shock travel, but how will a rear 1.5" spacer affect the rear Terrafirma shocks considering it will be a total of 3.5" rear lift?

Suggestions? Advice?

Thank you all in advance.

Discoken, sharp looking!! I've have an 02disco, and I'm doing my homework on shock/spring combos right now. I have a question- how much did the 2" lift really raise the car? Compared to original height? Did you install the medium duty?

Thanks for any suggestions, tips.
Sam

From what I've read and researched, raised up 2 inches (like I have) you can keep stock parts. Going 3 inches and up you'll have to extended the brake lines, wheel speed sensors cable and change the radius arms.
I'm sure there are other parts that need to be changed due to the increased height.

With my 2" I extended the brake lines and abs lines. I ran it with just extended brake lines and kept pulling out the plug on the rear abs lines

I also have the 2" extended brake lines from Atlantic British just for the hell of it but have the stock wheel speed sensors on all hubs. No problems.... Touch wood.

No need to change anything with 3". Been running it for years with ZERO issues. I would however look into those mods if I was going over 3".

That looks fantastic! Great pictures, following you on Instagram now.

1. Did I see you did new brakes too? Where'd you order those from?

2. Looks like you put the 265/60R18 tires on prior to the lift. Was there any rubbing at all? Or does that size pretty much require the lift?

I have the TF +3 springs and added pucks for 2 inches more, so slightly more lift than you. As Frank said, no abs extensions are needed, but brake lines are. Your driveshaft will be fine though if it is old, it may fail quicker.

Really the only issue is that your steering may get more difficult with little return to center, as the caster angle increases. Also, after you do the additional lift, check your steering linkage to be sure it is still linked.
