My '03 Discovery, 93k miles, had ocasonal misses in the past...but recently it is running very rough and going up big hills I get the blinking CEL...I am getting codes P1300, and misfires on Cly #1 and #5.....also, I am burning thru a quart of oil every 1,000 miles..and I do not see any drips on the ground...also, a few months ago I did change the plugs to Platnium 4's...but could not sucessfully change the original plug wires..
He is my plan....replace the original plug wires with Magnecores, removing the upper intake due to my big a** hands...while I am at it check the valve covers as I know they are leaking...changing the gasket if needed...since the misfires are on opposites coil packs, they should be ok?...any other thoughts on what the issue could be?......

 

have you changed your headgaskets yet? sounds like its time. i would stop driving it. when the CEL is blinking that means "turn me off and fix me"
