Default 03 leaking oil..

Where are some common spots that oil will leak from? I know the valve covers will leak sometimes.. Are there any others? Mine is leaking about 1 quart per month

So let play something different then multiple guess on our part and have you crawl under your truck and find the location of the leak, then ask whatever question you have at that point.

If I said everywhere that wouldn't help you!!! Do you have a mess all over the ground and are you sure it is leaking and not consuming the oil?

If you still have the belly fiberglass pan on the Disco take it off so you can better see the potential issue. Spray the underside of the engine down with degeaser and wash it up so you can identify the leak point. Your seals are- #1-front cover, #2-Oil pan to block, #3-Rear Main which leakage can be identified at a square weep hole at the 6:00 clock trans to oil pan flange, you could also pull the three bolts on your bell housing and if you see a lot of oil on that cover plate you most likely are leaking out this seal. Valve covers gaskets of course.

Find out the exact location and report back.

8mm 12 point deep well socket for the valve cover bolts, snug them by hand at each and every oil change.

x2 Disco Mike.... If the stock panel is still installed under your engine, from your general question I imagine it still is, rip that out, it was installed there to help control the temp and does the exact opposite so no need for it and taking it out will make anything you do under the truck much easier, its fiberglass and you can crack it into pieces to get it out, then hose down your undercarriage, use a degreaser and clean it up and you should have better luck finding the leak. If it is leaking at a stand still, you can see where it is spotting in the morning.

I had an oil leak that I could not trace down for about a year. I was loosing a quart or two over the time between oil changes. I eventually had my mechanic look at it. It held pressure and all my gaskets were good, so he suggested switching to 20w50 regular oil bc these older style engines don't do well on synthetic. I did, against a little scrutiny from some of the guys on here, just to see what would happen.....and my oil leaks are gone! Truck is running great!

1 quart a month is a lot. Do what Mike suggested and find it then report back. It should be rather obvious to see where it's coming from leaking at that rate.

Ha its July! The only places that aren't really really hot are Alaska (wish I still lived there) and Canada! But yea Im only going to use 20w50 in the summer, 10w40 in the winter. This is what my mechanic recommended. Its working so far
