Default 04 Disco OM617 Diesel Swap (Harvey)

Hi Everyone! I'm getting ready to do a swap on my 2004 Discovery. I will be using an OM617 Mercedes Diesel and a rover r380. I'll try to get as many pics as possible and keep updating. I'm still looking for a full setup for my r380 conversion if anyone knows of one. And all my old rover parts will be listed including transmission, ECU, TCU, engine, ect...

Price List:
Donor Car: $800
700R4 Adapter Plate, Flex Plate, Crank Adapter, and Mini High Torque Starter: $750 link

This is Harvey

Can i ask what the benefits to the swap are? This motor won't have as much HP or torque as the 4.6 will it?

Better reliability? MPG's? Just curious.

Dude, you are wasting so much money and time its not funny. In order to do any swap it has to be more power or more torque. Which that year diesel has nothing. The torque on that thing will be the equivalent of a 3.5. What a waste of time and money.

W123.133 1981–1985 300D Turbo 3.0 L OM617a I5 Diesel 125 PS (92 kW; 123 hp) @ 4350 245 N·m (181 lb·ft) @ 2400
W123.150 1977–1981 300CD 3.0 L OM617 I5 Diesel 80 PS (59 kW; 79 hp) @ 4000
from 09/79 88 PS (65 kW; 87 hp) @ 4400 169 N·m (125 lb·ft) @ 2400

4.6

In 1996, Land Rover enlarged the Rover V8 to 4,552 cc (277.8 cu in). The bore remained the same size as the previous 4.0 at 94.0 mm (3.70 in), but the engine was stroked by 10.9 mm (0.43 in) giving 82 mm (3.2 in) in total. Output was 225 hp (168 kW) and 280 ft•lbf (380 N•m).
Production of the 4.6 ended at Solihull, UK, in 2002. The final version, used in the Range Rover, produced 222 hp (166 kW) at 4,750 rpm and 300 ft•lbf (407 N•m) at 2,600 rpm.
The last mass-produced application of the Rover V8 was the Land Rover Discovery, up until the vehicle was redesigned in 2005. It is still used by some hand-built sports cars built by some independent manufacturers.
Applications:
1995–2002 Land Rover Range Rover in the HSE trim
2003–2004 Land Rover Discovery
1996–2002 TVR Chimaera

Duh, waste of time and money. low torque and low HP.
