Default 04 disco radio does not switch on

Hi,

We just got a 04 disco westminster , a couple of days ago. Everything is cool with it so far except for the radio. The radio does not switch on. I just checked the fuse 16 in the fuse box, which seems fine. I don't have the tools to pull out the din yet. Any suggestions as to how to proceed?

TIA

It could be that the battery was disconnected right before you bought it, and whoever did so did not put the radio code in (its a safety feature). First, tryhyper locking the doors(pressing the lockbutton on the key twice quickly and you will see the turning signals blink twice) which resets the alarm after the batteryhas beendiconnected. If that doesnt work then call up a dealer and give them your information and they should be able to look up the radio code for your truck. Good luck.

If you bought it from a car dealer take it back and have them figure it out.

Thanks for the responses. I did get some discount in the price due to the fact that the radio wasn't working. I plan to take it in, if it is not a simple fuse issue or something.

Just to be clear, the radio stays blank. Does not say code or anything. I did some googling as I typed up my message and now learn that there are two radio fuses, the one in the driver side fuse box seems ok, but my question now is, if the fuse behind the head unit went out, would the radio still say "code" or would it behave like mine is doing (no power)

You folks are great on the forum, I have been spending some time learning things.

There is also a fuse behind the radio, might want to have that checked.

what radio do you have? single din with buttons across the bottom with nav, or 1.5 din and tape deck

I believe it is the 1.5 din with the tape deck. The westminster is the SE edition for most part with some changes like a different fascia and different wheels. They do talk about an upgraded stereo amongst other things (I haven't seen evidence of that yet :-)). It does not have nav though.

cant think of much then, pull it and make sure its hooked up, nothing(xm or siruis) wired into it, and that fuse, past that your looking at a new radio, hope you got a good discount, those radios are pricey

It turned out to be the fuse behind the head unit. Was able to replace it with the spare, and got it working. It sounds quite nice.

Thanks for the help
