Default engine does not switch off with key on disco 1997 300 TDI

Hello

It happened to me sevelal times but this time I can't fix it:

my car is running and when I stop and want to switch off the engine by turning the key, the engine carries on turning, I need to stall to stop it but then all the light indicators in the car are lighten like if I was with the key in the last position before starting the engine.

Usually all I needed to do was deconnect the battery and connect it again and all got reinitialized again.

this time the trick does not work and I tried to dismount the electric connectors (it is a small black round connector box that fits into a mechanical device that turns with the key), I did not manage, as the box seemed sealed.

Do you know how to dismount it and if this is going to be the problem? or should I look somewhere else?

many thanks

manu

Does sound like your switch needs replacement. Until repaired looks like you could pull fuse 3 in satellite panel under dash to drop power to fuel solenoid. MAy need to rig a temporary switch.

I am not familiar with the TD300, but most diesels use a vacuum diaphragm to shut off. I had Land Cruiser diesel that I had to put a hose in the diaphragm and run into the cab and suck in every time I wanted to shut it off until I found the leak and repaired the problem.
