yeah...might be the XYZ.....You could just remove the solenoid......if everything else works fine...

but probably the best fix is a new OEM XYZ....there are several contact switches in the XYZ which are a bit touchy....

 

I picked up another xyz switch from a good running 2002 (tan colored switch) and its doing the exact same thing as the black colored xyz switch. I'm not sure spending 800-900 new switch will solve my problem.

 

Well after pulling my hair out (or whats left of it) The Discovery II would go into limp as soon as I switch the shifter from Reverse to Neutral. I can hear a clicking from the fuse panel under the steering wheel. It would click faster faster once shifted it into N with the engine running. Without the engine running I could here it click real slow not as fast as when the engine is running. The click is coming from the (TYCO V23081-xxxxx) relay. Is there a way to replace the relay or do I have to replace the whole fuse panel? I'm hoping this is my problem. Any help would be appreciated...or Is this normal to click?

Those boxes are usually replaced only as a whole unit. There's a big mess of circuitry on them. The onboard relays really aren't replaceable separately.

 

I guess I'll be sourcing a another fuse box than.

Might be worth taking a close look around the area to make sure there's no evidence of water leaks or something else that might have caused the failure.

 

Yeah good point. I'll do that. Is there a way to see if the transmission thats in the car now is original to the car?
