Default Asking for advise

My 02 dico ll wont go over 30-35 mph in drive and I have the manual light flashing along with the sport light flashing. When neither is flashing I still can't go over the same speed but I can manually shift it and get up to 45-50 mph. Anyone able to help or suggestions

The flashing m + s lights means your disco is in limp mode. Is the check engine light on? When did it first go into limp mode? How often are the lights flashing vs. not? There are multiple reasons the disco could go into limp mode, the one I have encountered is the crankshaft position sensor. I believe the transmission XYZ switch is another? A search of the forums should find the various causes.

The most common reason for Limp Home mode is a very low battery.

If a fully charged battery doesn't solve your problem, then try cleaning your Neutral Safety (xyz) switch on your transmission.

If the xyz switch gets water into it, or if the transmission ecu gets water into it underneath your driver's seat, then they will trigger Limp Home mode.

I too had this in conjunction with a bad crankshaft position sensor. Do you have a code reader? If so read the codes and then clear the codes and the flashing m + s light will go away and you can accelerate normally. But you have an underlying issue that you need to address.

If you don't have a code reader then head down to Autozone or Napa or your local equivalent and have them read the codes for you. Write them down and then have them clear them.

Post the codes here and we will help you out.
