Default '04 with some ?'s

First thing is I am having the head gaskets done, is there anything I should have done while it's apart? I am doing plugs and wires. The second thing is tranny fluid. Should I do a fluid and filter change at 112k? The local LR independent says it shouldn't be done if it was never changed. I have all records since new, it doesn't look like it was done. I get a different answer from everyone I ask. I use the disco for towing my rzr and soon for some light wheeling. Thanks.

Here is the low down on the "never change trans filter if its over xxx miles"...total bu!!****!!
Yes go ahead and change your trans fluid and filter, then change your trans fluid every 30k after that, filter every 60k.
As long as you have the cooling system drained I would replace all coolant hoses and thermostat as well as the throttle body heater gasket and coolant lines.

Why are you having the head gaskets done?
Make sure to replace the t/stat.
How mechanical are yo, at your mileage there is most likely a ton of necessary service needed. Look at my sticky at the top of this section regarding major service issue needed especially the front drive shaft, have your mechanic make sure each of the front u-joints have a grease fitting, if not it must be replaced before it fails and takes your tranny with it.

I did all the hoses, throttle body heater, expansion tank and t-stat, thought that was the reason I was smelling anti-freeze. Local LR guy said head gaskets were leaking, but said $2700 to do them. It's getting that I add coolant every week. I've decided to keep it, so whatever it is, it's getting fixed. I'll do the fluids and other things I can do from the service list. I have a friend that owns a garage to do the things I can't.

Well, you can save over $2000 if you do them yourself.
By the way, his quote is about $1000 over the more honest small Rover shop.
