Default 04 Starting Issue

Quick question, for about the past two weeks now, whenever I go out to start to head to work it attempts to start, I mean the starter is clicking away for as long as I hold the key, but then as soon as I stop and then try again it fires up every time? Thoughts?

If you mean that at first turn to crank position the engine turns over, but does not fire up; then on second attempt it starts up normally - could be low fuel pressure. You can duplicate by turning key on, but no start, wait 3 seconds, off, then repeat several times. On last attempt turn all the way to crank. This could indicate fuel system is not holding prime, bad fuel pump, etc.

That is kind of what I was thinking, I have the RAVE manual and was looking at changing the fuel pump, but it says that a "special" removal tool is required, have you heard of anyone changing theirs? Also, is there any other way to diagnose this before I buy a new pump? Thanks again!

Leave the pump alone for now unless you do some further checking.
What happens if you turn the key to the second position, without starting the engine, turn back and do that 3 times in a row. If the engine then starts as it should, then yes it could be the pump, if no difference, then it is not the pump.
When was the last time you did a full tune up along with new 8 mm plug wires, what octane gas are you running and does this starting problem happen on every attempt to start the engine?

you can check the pumps resistance with a ohm meter but like Mike said leave the pump alone until you are 99% certain it is the issue.
