At 100Kilomiles, warranty up
All,
I hope this topic hasn't been beaten to death, but I have to ask. I'm also posting this in the LR3 forum so it will be interesting to see the difference in the responses.
Anyway, as the subject says, I'm at 100K miles on my 2003 Disco HSE. I love it, it's serving(ed) me well. I've got the OME 2 inch lift (with the SLS spacers) and brand new BFG ATs on it, black procomp(I think) steel wheels
It's my daily driver, I also tow my (3000LB)camper with it, I 4-wheel with it when I'm tent camping or just messing around etc... I shove my road bike and/or mountain bike in the back and head out for the weekend. It's AMAZING off road, and I love doing some of the crazy trails around here.
My dilema. I've had my share of problems with it and if it weren't for the warranty I'd be living on the streets from the cost of the repairs. So, now that the warranty is up, do I buy a used LR3, or Keep the Disco? I'm worried I'll won't get the performance out of the LR3 that I get/got out of my Disco. Towing, offroad, interior space etc...
What do you all think? 100K miles keep it or switch out to an LR3?
Thanks,
Brian

Spike is right, you are probably done with the main expenses. The Disco is much better than the LR3. I would keep it and put another 50 K Miles on it.
In addition, when we talk about expensive, try the LR3 and you will know what expensive is.

HHAH! Yeah! Just had the prop shaft redone, over the past 3 years I feel like I've been replacing the entire vehicle one part at a time.
It's an awesome truck, I had it out the weekend in the canyons east of Las Vegas. Loved it. It just doesn't get old climbing over some of the stuff out there.
Anybody know what I can expect of the next 50K miles?

Let's see, the last 50K miles? New oil pan, new, exhaust manifold, new power locks, new turn headlight switch, new windshield wiper switch, new Nav Radio, 15 new wheel position sensors, new O2 Sensor, new crankshaft position sensor, new air cleaner assembly, new ECU, cruise control, main seal, new fuel pump, and a handful of cosmetics. Hmm... OH!! You mean the good stuff...
Despite it's 'issues' I do love my Disco.
I do REALLY want to keep it. I just don't want to go broke in the process.
