I dont think you will have that much trouoble, and now that you dont have a warrenty to fix every little thing that pops up and you will be doing most of the work yourself the truck will be alot cheaper to keep going.
Remeber that dealer parts prices have a 100% mark up from retail.
Alternator at the dealer...$600
Alternator at the scrap yard...$70
You just need to change your way of thinking now, thats all.

also (don't know how others feels) but not only are aftermarket parts usually quite a bit cheaper than originals they (from my experiences at least) last longer too.

You make a great point. I've got a couple of friends that know more about working on Discos and cars all together. So, yeah I should be OK.
