You cant touch the glass of those bulbs when installing......Have had the same ones in my truck for over a year. And they are still fine. - Runs outside to knock on oak tree.

As far as running 14.8 volts, thas just a tad too high.

Thanks for the feedback...

How long do alternators last on these? Mine is still original. 90k now. Any recommendations on a new one?

I left the truck for the weekend and will take it to get the alternator checked out...I will switch bulbs next time.

And yeah I was careful installing.

Pat, don't rely on your voltage test, get a charging system test done to verify if this is even a problem.

I think it's the Silverstars as well, I tried them when they first came out, had to replace both of them in less than 6 months, replaced them with another set, same thing happened. Replaced them with stock bulbs, lasted 6 years then I sold the vehicle.
