16" Wheel Question
This is in the "should I care" category.
After months of searching locally for a set of 16" wheels for my 2001 Disco 2, I now find myself with two sets of 4 in as many days. I will be keeping five of the wheels so I have a full set + spare, and selling the other three.
Set one are marked ANR4848 and "Made in Hungary" on the back. I can't find a date code. This set has new tires that are acceptable to me already mounted and balanced.
Set two is marked NTC 6980 on the rim and Made in Britain (or England) on the back, along with day/year of 95-96 (April 4, 1996). They do not have tires mounted.
Both sets are very clean with no scratching, dents, cracks or signs of abuse. Both sets have their center caps, but the ANR4848 are green while the NTC6980's are silver. I have no preference, and can just switch them I suppose if I did.
So, is there a reason that the NTC 6980 wheels are more desirable and worth the trouble of dismounting the tires from the ANR4848 wheels?
Thanks in advance!

that was my thought as well. D1, classic, and defender wheels do not fit on a D2. And please for the love of god don't put the new 18" steelies from the new defender on a d2, saw that on FB and wanted to puke.
No worries. Not interested in 18" wheels at all so you won't see that on my SUV.
I had the same thought about fit when I saw the dates. They seller told me they came off his 2001 disco 2 that he parted out after he didn't take care of the u-joints on the front driveshaft it cause carnage as it failed. I will be test fitting them tonight, which may end the debate entirely. I am also thinking I may keep both sets if they do fit and have one with better dirt tires and another with better winter/snow tires.

The NTC6980's fit fine. They would have to be 4.0/4.6 P38 wheels from 96.
I found this site which lists both wheels:
https://www.cxmdunord.nl/rims-land-rover/
It appears I have a set of "Stratos" and a set of "Mirage" wheels, and there is not any meaningful difference between them. Time to decide if I am going to sell some or have two sets.
